Irresistibly authentic sourdough pizza at Franco Manca pizzeria in Brixton Market

My other half recently imposed a compulsory weekly outing to our local pizzeria Franco Manca  – as well as a ban on visiting more than once in a day (yes, it has been known!). Franca Manco’s pizzas really are that irresistible – totally authentic with gorgeous dough and minimal, good quality toppings. I have now sampled all combinations on the menu and they are all amazing. They also have a daily specials board which generally includes interesting things like potato and wild boar.

Franco Manca is no secret in South London and you will often find queues waiting to be seated in the limited space within Brixton Market. It’s well worth the wait though. Seating is split over two sides of the covered market so you can munch pizza while watching the colourful Brixton locals buy their fish and veggies from the neighbouring shops. Although prices have crept up a little in recent years, it is still excellent value. Beer and wine are available but you really should try the homemade lemonade – a taste sensation!

They used to only open during the day but more recently they have started doing Thursday to Saturday evenings. It’s proving very popular and I hear it’s going to continue into the summer which I’m very happy about as I can’t think of a more perfect way to spend a sunny, summer evening.

TiYK Top Tip! Great news for Clapham residents, a new branch of Franco Manco has just opened up on Northcote Road. We hear it’s just as good as its Brixton neighbour so make sure you arrive early to beat the queues!
